What do you know about firework safety?

I know there are still too much injuries caused by lighting fireworks or being a bystander. I believe these can be partially prevented by having more knowledge about firework safety. I wanted to be able to be part of a/the solution, so less people would get injured during national holidays.

β€˜One CPSC study showed that 65% of people injured by fireworks are bystanders’.

Request/need: Firework safety is a subject that comes around every year, especially near the 4th of July and the new years celebration. Even though there are many resources available about firework safety, I wanted to provide a different kind of resource: An interactive training, where people are encouraged to be active about their learning.

Goal: My goal was to provide a short interactive training on firework safety where people would gain new knowledge and would be able to immediately apply this knowledge.

Solution: The learning solutions I provided are a short training with a lot of interactive elements, and an infographic to provide learners with an easy 5 steps to firework safety. First, learners are confronted with the question of why learning about firework safety is important. Second, they learn through a video from multiple safety departments what to do beforehand, during and afterwords when setting off fireworks. At last, they will check what they have learned with a few interactive questions to retain the newly gained knowledge.

The accompanying infographic can be viewed below. It gives the learners a comprehensive overview of 5 steps they need to be aware of, and apply when trying to be safe with the lighting of fireworks.
